Christian K. Osei

Christian K. Osei is a Ghanaian national and currently a PhD student in Public Policy at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Before joining the doctoral program, Christian worked at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana, where he was part of a network of researchers that worked on several developmental research projects aimed at informing policy through various publications, reports, advocacy and stakeholder engagements. Christian earned both his Bachelors degree in Economics with Computer Science and MPhil in Economics at the University of Ghana, in 2014 and 2018, respectively. His research areas span through Applied Microeconomics, Health Economics, and the evaluation of Social Protection Programs. More about Christian can be found here.

Mawuenyega Makafui Butu

Mawuenyega Makafui Butu is a Ghanaian, pursuing PhD in Development Economics at the University of Ghana. She was a beneficiary of the UNU-Wider Scholarship.  Mawuenyega is a Queen Elizabeth Scholar at Carleton University. She currently serves as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research. Her research interest spans the areas of health economics, child poverty, inequality, gender, food security, and climate change.

Prior to her PhD journey, she lectured at Regent University of Science and Technology where she lectured economics and doubled as a Course Development Officer. Mawuenyega earned her first degree from the University of Cape Coast, where she studied Bachelor of Education in Social Science (Economics and Geography).
