About the AIR Pipeline Partnership Program (P3)

About the AIR Pipeline Partnership Program (P3) Africa

The American Institutes for Research® (AIR) is a mission-driven institution dedicated to generating and using evidence that contributes to a better and more equitable world. AIR knows that human capital is our greatest asset and the key to our success. We believe that embracing a diversity of perspectives, abilities, cultural backgrounds, styles, ages, gender, gender identity/expression, education, and life stories drives innovation and improves our ability to make research relevant.

Historically access to tertiary education in Africa has been limited, and flagship universities have focused on science, technology, and medicine rather than social and behavioral science. This has manifested in a limited capacity and a shortage of rigorous policy analysis and impact evaluation led by national researchers, which can feed into policy dialogue and decision-making.  AIR Pipeline Partnership Program (P3) Africa aims to address this by extending P3 to African universities, directly addressing the lack of resources, supervisory support, professional networks, and access to cutting-edge training faced by Ph.D. students in African universities.

We aim to collaborate with universities to provide virtual and on-campus learning events, workshops, and training delivered by AIR Institute Fellows; leadership and other internal experts; networking opportunities; short courses; access to AIR’s paid Internship Program; and other opportunities.

About AIR and the AIR Opportunity Fund

AIR is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution that conducts behavioral and social science research and delivers technical assistance to solve some of the most urgent challenges in the U.S. and around the world. Through the AIR Opportunity Fund, AIR invests in the generation and use of high-quality evidence to address the harmful effects of segregation by race and place. As part of our core operating principles, we support and engage in partnerships with stakeholders who are directly affected by the inequities we seek to address and with those who influence and drive decision-making. Further, our work advances efforts that incorporate the perspectives of individuals with diverse experiences and expertise to shape approaches and solutions that are responsive to the communities with whom we work. The Pipeline Partnership Program is one component of this Fund.
